Eleven talented students from our school made their voices heard at the Circle the State with Song festival on Friday, January 31st. Held at the Kelli O'Hara Center of Performing Arts in Elk City, Oklahoma, this Oklahoma Music Educators Association (OMEA) sponsored event brought together approximately 260 students from across Western Oklahoma for a day filled with music and camaraderie.
Circle the State with Song provides a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their vocal skills and contribute to the growth of our school's choir program. Participation in events like this helps develop student leadership within the choir and establishes a standard for quality choral sound.
Our students dedicated a significant amount of time and effort preparing for the festival, attending after-school rehearsals multiple times a week and practicing diligently on their own. Their hard work culminated in a fun-filled day of rehearsing, singing, and creating lasting musical memories.
"I am incredibly proud of all my students," said Mrs. Elizabeth Edge, Choir Director. "They poured their hearts into preparing for this event, and their dedication truly showed. It's an honor to be their teacher."
The success of this year's festival has sparked excitement for future participation. Mrs. Edge expressed hopes of expanding student involvement in the years to come, stating, "I'm very excited that this event seems to be something we will continue to participate in, and that we will (hopefully) be able to take more students every year." The Circle the State with Song festival serves as a valuable experience for our students and promises to strengthen our school's vocal music program for years to come.
