The Cordell Cross Country team showcased remarkable talent at the state competition today! Calliy Walker shone brightly, securing an impressive 4th place finish and surpassing her previous state time by an incredible 22 seconds. Right from the starting line, Calliy positioned herself among the lead pack of about 10 girls, fiercely vying for the top spot. She delivered an outstanding performance throughout the race!
Meanwhile, Jacob Vela made a strong debut as a first-year cross country runner, finishing well within the top half and representing Blue with pride. Both athletes demonstrated immense courage, overcoming their fears and achieving remarkable results.
These dedicated runners began their journey in July, training in the sweltering heat, and today they crossed the finish line in the refreshing cool of the 60s. Cross country runners endure rain or shine, heat and cold, often training in the dark long before the day begins.
To all our runners: keep pushing forward and stay true to yourselves. We are incredibly proud of you! Go BLUE!
